He made the first categorical announcement about his presidential ambition in the foreign media on August 16, knowing it would become news on his birthday. Our message got to destination. Feeback from the media and through our web site are evident of the powerful, immediate and direct effect of the bomb sent to IBB's camp.
Nigeria is aware ordinary people like us can get together and declare we have had enough. We are doing something extraordinary here. No longer do we give representative power to the ruling elite who times without number have ended up betraying our trust. Now, we have realized we can take the battle straight to the hoodlums. There is power in unity.
It may not be contentious to say we are on course to push off IBB from the cliff edge. A very important personality wrote us, "I am convinced however that the odds against (Babangida) increase virtually every day. And not just he as an individual, but all those who are accountable within the same league."
We have together raised the obstacle for the Evil Genius. Things are not looking so good for him as we commnicate with you. All because we didn't just sit down wishing he would retreat.
However, you must be aware Babangida is stubborn. He will not just retreat until he is slammed and defeated. There is still some journey ahead. Your continued support is essential.
Ibrahim Babangida has eventually come out of his 13-year powerlessness with a determination to contest the 2007 presidential election. Mr. Babangida was quoted by the BBC: "I will contest in the election. Under the banner of the Nigerian people.” Under your banner? How can that be possible? Although Againstbabangida.com ran a full page advert on Page 72 of The Guardian on August 17, 2006, stating our position, a preponderance of messages is necessary to shout the devil down.
It is our hope that all well-meaning Nigerians will take up the gauntlet and fight with us to bar the Evil Genius from ever manipulating the affairs of our great nation again.
