After weeks of speculations fuelled by a late-night visit of the United States embassy officials to the residence of former Nigerian dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida, in northern Nigeria, it is now confirmed that the diabolical usurper is preparing once again to grab power.  And Nigerians are concerned for good reasons.  Those who know how Nigeria became such a vast waste today can provide several reasons why it is the handiwork of Ibrahim from Minna.

Nigeria has been so unfortunate to have been led by successively vision-less and greedy leaders, but none compares to the deceptive and destructive dictator from Minna.  In his time, Ibrahim Babangida took everything that is bad about Nigeria and put a square root on them.  The result is a nation that is today filled with politicians without political ideology, billionaire businessmen without a business idea, military generals scared by the sight of war, and youths whose only ambition is to rip-off foreigners at Yahoo.com. Who is Ibrahim from Minna?  A book cannot tell all about him, but we invite you to read more at: http://www.againstbabangida.com/who-is-babangida. In a nutshell, he is the ultimate blood-sucker.

Babangida has been Nigeria's ever-present problem for over four decades; having participated in every military coup, including those that ousted democratically-elected politicians.  He is not a democrat or lover of democracy.  In fact, he hates democracy and prefers the barrel of the gun.  Babangida’s clearest demonstration of lack of feeling for democracy was the annulment of the June 12 presidential election in 1993, an election he initiated and later cancelled - all by himself.  In the process, he betrayed his close friend, MKO Abiola, deceived the nation, caused the judicial system to be ridiculed, endangered national security and was eventually forced to vacate power by angry Nigerians.  There is really not enough space to write about the economic, social, political, legal and moral ruin that Ibrahim from Minna caused Nigeria.  He has, simply, through the years, underdeveloped Nigeria through successively engineered ill-advised policies, processes and actions.

Yet, this man has never failed to stick his eyes on power.  There is something about Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida that says Nigeria cannot be let alone until totally destroyed.  While he had previously announced his political retirement a few years ago, he has now officially retired from retirement, with his recent announcement of "consultations" to reclaim power.

When Babangida says he wants power, some Nigerians just heave and seem to admit no one can stop him.  They reason he has the stolen money to attempt it and a personally-created corrupt system to make it happen.  Babangida has filled all levels of power with his cohorts and has continued to engineer his relevance by watching over his goods.  So, it would seem almost like an inordinate ambition to try to stop him.

Whether true or not, it is for this reason that most Nigerians have resigned to fate, and pray only for a savior to get them out of the predicament that started when the man also known as 'IBB' was admitted to Nigeria military school. Over the years, in our bid to watch the evil genius and sensitize the nation to the need to probe his regime so that he does not continue to pose grave dangers to the nation, we have come to realize that Babangida is like a familiar spirit, who understands to the microscopic level how to control Nigeria.  Sounds like giving him too much credit?  Well, not exactly.

There is no informed Nigerian in good conscience who fails to realize that Babangida is bad news.  He is bad news because he never leaves anything better than he met it, except for the pockets of the opportunistic hangers-on he tends to breed.

So, why does Babangida continue to desire political power?  He wants political power because he sees it as unfinished business.  He was disgraced out of power in 1993, against his will, and still feels he has a point to prove.  Babangida’s egotistic mindset will not let him see that his time has passed.  Although he had neither shown academic brilliance at school or in the military, he continues to carry himself as if he is the smartest Nigerian alive.  But more importantly, there are still some items of public record that he desperately wishes to erase.

Questions continue to linger over his authorization of the murder of the late Newswatch founder, Mr. Dele Giwa.  He would like to take this off the books.  There are also questions about his stealing of the billions of dollars of Nigeria’s oil windfall during the Gulf war, the Gloria Okon case, among others, that are considered damaging when historians get to work.  More than anything else, Babangida knows that he is dead meat if an honest leader comes to power; since the problems of today can be easily traced to him.  So, the books simply have to be cooked to clear the so-called Prince of Minna.

More than any person alive among today’s generation of Nigerians, Babangida is a most nagging problem, a persistently annoying mosquito that will not give up until it kills its victim; a country that has suffered much from his hands.  When a mosquito parades, you cannot pacify it - you either eliminate it or it eliminates you.  Babangida, if allowed, will undoubtedly become the agent through whom Nigeria's rapid destruction within seven years materializes, just as predicted by certain renowned intelligence bodies in the Western world.

Meanwhile, owing to the gravity of a potential Babangida presidency, we will sound an advance warning to foreign governments, parasitic Nigerian politicians, and those who may be nursing any ambition to aid and abet Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida to impose another cancerous regime of the despotic dictator on Nigeria, not to even think about it!  Nigerians have said never again to Babangida, and that resolution will stand either by persuasion or any other means necessary.

Just like we did before, Againstbabangida.com is ready to spearhead the movement to stop Babangida.  In the coming weeks, we will be writing letters to world leaders, publishing stories, embarking on newspaper, radio and Internet campaigns and holding press conferences with a view to reminding the world just what kind of danger Nigeria is exposed to with Babangida still lurking.  Any foreign nation seen to be romanticizing with the despot, regardless of that country’s power and influence, will be labelled as an enemy of the Nigerian people.

That said, we will once again, count on the generous support of well-meaning people worldwide to raise the funds necessary to get the truth out.  We do not claim that we will rival or match the stolen resources at Babangida’s disposal. No contribution will be deemed too small to keep Nigeria free from the blood-sucking dictator.

Let there be no doubts about Againstbabangida.com's resolute determination and courage to fight the beast called Babangida. We like to inform you as frequently as possible about what we are doing and how you can help. Continue to check for details.
