The second marriage of Mohammed Babangida to Aisha Umma Wali has crashed.The marriage was annulled in a few months ago when Umma filed for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. The marriage between Mohammed and Umma was celebrated in 2008 with an elaborate party that lasted for several days in Minna and Kano.
Initially, his decision to take a second wife put a strain on his marriage with Rahama but Mohammed was able to steer the affair of his matrimonial home with such dignity and maturity that Rahama (daughter of Alhaji Indimi, the Maiduguri born oil billionaire) objected to having a co-wife,she finally gave in and agreed to Mohammed's wish.nterestingly though,Umma was allegdely Mohammed's first love interest.The two were rumoured to have dated for sometime before Mohammed announced his decision to marry Umma but got a stern no from his late mum Maryam Babangida.
Eventually, Mohammed settled for Rahama, but with time,he re-visited his decision to make an honest woman out of Umma and sealed his love with her in April 2008.well five years down the line, the love between Mohammed and Umma has suffered a decline and it has ended in a divorce. A family source disclosed that Umma was emotionally deflated when her efforts in getting pregnant usually turned out to be fruitless.
It was also gathered that it was Umma that signified her interest to walk out of the marriage. Even though he was reluctant in letting go, Mohammed had to oblige her request when he realised that there was nothing he could do to make Umma happy. Mohammed is still married to Rahama and they have four children between them.
